Job Summary:

Seeking a System Engineer with knowledge of server hardware architecture including but not limited to storage controllers, memory, networking, CPU and GPU chipsets.  Candidate can develop system and cluster solutions for customers with Supermicro server, storage, networking and software technologies. Work closely with system software vendors and internal firmware development to create product software / firmware requirements based on real-world customer demand. Experience with cutting-edge technology in Big Data, Virtualization, Cloud and Hyperscale (Hadoop, OpenStack, vSphere and others) to solve challenges in Data Center and Enterprise environments.This individual will be required to work cross-department as needed, helping to both develop and enable operations towards roadmap fulfillment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties include but not limited to following areas:
•Work together with Supermicro Sales teams, Field Engineers, Product Managers to understand /formulate product requirements.
•Join Supermicro Sales teams in sales engagements,; listen to and understand customer needs to provide best resolution to customer's problems.
•Work with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineering, Component Managers, Sales and IT team on assigned projects
•Develop server system BIOS and management firmware design requirements and specifications involving server, storage, networking systems in a Microsoft, Linux, or VMware environment.
•Be knowledgeable of latest technologies in Enterprise and Open Source software, driving the integration of software technologies into Supermicro system solutions.
•Be familiar with firmware quality assurance, OS testing and be able to create test plans.

Qualifications:

•BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineer preferred, MSCS a plus.
•1 to 5 years hardware / IT industry experience preferred.
•Strong knowledge with computer architectures
•Strong communication skills in both technical and business setting, written and verbal.
•Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment
•Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills
•Demonstrate understanding or how to successfully work in cross-functional organizations
•Hands-on working knowledge in the following fields: System BIOS, management firmware, storage, networking, server quality assurance or visualization a plus.
•Microsoft or Linux certification a plus.
