Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Technical Sourcing: Evaluate engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to identify capable manufacturing suppliers.
  2. Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, technology roadmaps, material availability, and market conditions to support sourcing strategies and supply continuity.
  3. Cost Management: Support Request for Quote (RFQ) processes, review pricing between MFGs vs specification features, and execute cost-down initiatives for components.
  4. Supplier Vetting: Assess(may involve onsite audit) and select global vendors based on technology, production capacity, quality management, and financial stability.
  5. Design Collaboration: Work with R&D during early product design to optimize components for manufacturability and cost.
  6. Risk Mitigation: Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify single-source risks and establish qualification plans for secondary suppliers.
  7. Supplier Quality: Partner with Quality Engineers to resolve manufacturing defects, root-cause failures, and supplier corrective actions to support commercial negotiations to achieve optimal cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.
  8. Technical training: Provide technical sourcing guidance and training to purchasing teams on component technologies, manufacturing processes, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering.
  2. Experience: 3+ years in strategic sourcing, technical procurement, or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  3. Technical Skills: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, Semiconductor process, PCB fabrication) and blueprint reading.
  4. Software: Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems / PLM software.
  5. Soft Skills: Strong commercial negotiation tactics, cross-functional leadership, and clear technical communication.
  6. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
