Job Summary:
The APAC Sr. Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for managing the company's import and export compliance to ensure compliance with APAC and international trade regulations and to optimize the efficiency and profitability of these activities. The incumbent will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and will be responsible for overseeing the movement of goods between different countries.
The APAC Sr. Trade Compliance Manager will Lead SMC’s APAC Trade Compliance Program to ensure compliance with APAC export and import regulations.
The APAC Sr. Trade Compliance Manager will manage all aspects of SMC’s APAC Trade Compliance program, including providing guidance and assistance to the business in compliantly achieving tactical and strategic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpret trade and compliance policy and provide regulatory guidance relative to export & Impot compliance procedures and documentation, business processes, licensing and administration, denied party, record keeping, and administration and training based on personal expertise.
Maintains awareness of changing import & export control laws and regulations and provides analysis regarding applicability and impact to company products and technologies, existing company export policies and procedures
Support & lead the development of a global import/export control infrastructure.
Assisting with the development and management of comprehensive internal export and import procedures and controls to ensure compliance with US, APAC and global regulations
• Collaborate with individual business groups to determine the most effective manner to embed trade compliance requirements into business operations.
• Develop and maintain a risk assessment plan in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Execute the development, implementation and periodic assessment of procedures, policies, and practices to address export and sanctions compliance risk across business units.
• Oversee third-party screening program, including ensuring proper screening is conducted and deciphering screening results.
• Ensure that accurate export control classifications for goods, technology and software are maintained, and guide relevant stakeholders in the business units on the requirements for dealing in controlled products, software and technology.
• Develop and deliver export & control, sanctions, and boycott training to key stakeholders. Provide ad-hoc training to the business as required.
• Contribute to ERP and other business systems enhancement including drafting business requirements, technical specifications, and test scenarios associated with systemic Trade controls.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and global business partners to ensure socialization and alignment of Customs and other Trade requirements.
• Serve as the resource for internal business partners, providing compliance information, including guidance on procedures, risks, and Trade data management.
• Coordinate with internal teams, customs brokers, logistics providers, and government agencies to resolve export & import compliance related issues and inquiries.
• Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and retention policy of Company’s Trade records including conducting regular audits of import & export processes and transactional activities to ensure compliance with Trade regulations and internal policies.
Qualifications:
• BS/BA or advanced degree required or equivalent work experience;
• 10+ years of direct import and export compliance experience, preferably with semiconductor or technology industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Customs Regulations, Valuations policies and export controls.
• SAP GTS proficiency is highly desired, tech savvy and comfortable dealing with systems and utilizing technology to address compliance needs; can design processes and systematic controls.

• Skilled in MS Office suite of products (including MS Teams).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Visio skills
• Ability to take complex processes and procedures and translate or document them in flowcharts
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical details to various stakeholders; able to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs.
