Job Summary:
Super Micro Computer, Inc., one of the fastest growing IT companies in the world is looking for an innovative leader to fill a Director, Firmware Engineering position. As a critical member of our system department, Director of firmware engineering is responsible for managing, performing and completing projects to customer’s satisfaction in a safe, efficient and timely manner; performs other duties as required, based out of our headquarters located in San Jose, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead storage firmware and software team. Develop firmware for SAS/SATA/NVMe controllers and management software for storage systems.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product managers, mechanical team, and production to deliver AI/enterprise storage products.
•Establish clear product goals, success metrics, and prioritization frameworks to ensure on-time delivery of storage platform as well as firmware and software releases.
• Proactively engage with key customers to understand evolving needs for enterprise/AI storage architecture. Provide cutting-edge solutions to customers and ensure timely follow-up on requirements and feedback.
• Analyze competitive landscape, cost implications, risks, and business outcomes to ensure product success.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering equivalent experience. EE or CS is highly preferable.
• At least 15 years of experience in enterprise storage design and deployment.
• Strong knowledge in SAS, SATA, NVMe, HDD, and SSD.
• Strong knowledge in AI storage architecture.
• Experienced in high availability redundant storage design.
• Familiar with storage hardware, firmware, application software and benchmarking.
• Experienced in big data solutions for enterprise and cloud service.
• Solid communication skills in both verbal and written.
• Strong executive presence with a track record of supporting mid-to-large clients/business.
