Job Summary:

As a global leader in networking solution innovation, Super Micro Computer's mission is to develop and provide the market with end-to end computing solution and high performance networking products. We have an immediate need for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our talented and bright design team. The candidate will play a key role in the development process of in-house server motherboards, by working collaboratively with cross-functional engineering team as well as outside partners to ensure the robust design of the boards. The candidate must be self-motivated and possess a strong will to do great things, with a result-driven mindset to develop the most competitive and endurance board products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Modify and enhance existing designs to improve performance, quality, and reliability of server products.
2. Debugging and diagnose failed units, trouble shooting, repair and retest products. Approaches technical problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensure rehensive understanding, team work and effective resolution strategies.
3. Conduct performance testing and benchmarking for servers, GPUs, and HPC environments.
4. Analyze results to identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance for AI/ML workloads.
5. Design and configure high-speed network topologies (InfiniBand, Ethernet) for AI clusters.
6. Write Python scripts to automate testing, monitoring, and system optimization.
7. Understanding of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and deployment requirements for LLMs.
8. Monitor network health and server performance, proactively identifying and resolving issue. Document routed backward.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus

5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware design, with a strong focus on x86 server motherboards

2. In-depth knowledge of digital, analog, and power circuit design, high-speed PCB layout, and signal integrity

3. Solid understanding of Intel architecture, Windows, and Linux operating systems

Proven experience with oscilloscopes and standard laboratory test equipment

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for complex hardware issues

4. Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment

5. Self-motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic setting

Experience with Linux shell scripting and automated testing is a plus
