Job Summary:

The System / Product Engineer will support the development, validation, launch, and lifecycle management of Supermicro Client System, AI PC, Desktop, and Workstation products.
This position will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, BIOS/BMC, Validation, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, FAE, and external technology partners to ensure products meet technical requirements, customer expectations, quality standards, and launch schedules.
The ideal candidate should have strong PC and workstation system knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting capability, and the ability to translate customer requirements into practical system configurations and engineering actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Product Development and NPI Support
•    Support new product introduction from product definition, prototype build, engineering validation, pilot production, mass production, and product launch.
•    Review system specifications, BOMs, product configurations, compatibility requirements, and engineering documentation.
•    Coordinate with motherboard, chassis, thermal, power supply, BIOS, firmware, software, validation, and manufacturing teams.
•    Track engineering issues, validation status, project risks, and corrective actions to ensure projects meet schedule and quality targets.
•    Support product readiness reviews and production release activities.
2. System Integration and Validation
•    Perform system configuration, integration, functional testing, compatibility testing, and performance validation.
•    Validate CPUs, GPUs, memory, storage, networking, power supplies, cooling solutions, operating systems, drivers, and peripheral devices.
•    Analyze system performance, thermal behavior, acoustic performance, power consumption, stability, and reliability.
•    Reproduce and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, BIOS, driver, operating system, and application-related issues.
•    Work with engineering teams to identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
3. Product Configuration and Technical Documentation
•    Maintain product specifications, supported configuration lists, BOMs, compatibility matrices, test reports, user guides, FAQs, and technical training materials.
•    Support the creation and maintenance of product web content, configuration guides, sales tools, and technical collateral.
•    Ensure product information is accurate and consistent across internal systems, customer-facing materials, and sales channels.
•    Develop reference configurations and recommended solution stacks for different customer use cases.
4. Customer, Sales, and FAE Support
•    Provide technical support to Product Management, Sales, FAE, channel partners, and customers during product evaluation, proof-of-concept, deployment, and post-launch support.
•    Analyze customer requirements and recommend suitable system configurations and solutions.
•    Support customer issue escalation, failure analysis, and technical communication.
•    Participate in customer meetings, product demonstrations, technical training, and solution presentations when required.
•    Help convert customer feedback and field issues into product improvement actions.
5. Product Lifecycle and Quality Management
•    Monitor field quality, customer feedback, return data, engineering change notices, component changes, and product lifecycle risks.
•    Coordinate component qualification, second-source validation, cost-reduction activities, and product sustaining engineering.
•    Support engineering change management and evaluate the impact of component, firmware, BIOS, and design changes.
•    Assist with product phase-in, phase-out, end-of-life, and replacement planning.

Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
•    Minimum 3–5 years of experience in system engineering, product engineering, hardware engineering, validation engineering, technical support, or a related role.
•    Strong technical knowledge of PC, desktop, workstation, or server system architecture.
•    Hands-on experience with system assembly, configuration, validation, debugging, and failure analysis.
•    Good understanding of the following technologies:
o    Intel and/or AMD CPU platforms
o    NVIDIA and/or AMD GPUs
o    DDR4/DDR5 memory
o    PCIe architecture and add-in cards
o    NVMe/SATA storage
o    Ethernet and wireless networking
o    Power supply, thermal, and cooling design
o    Windows and Linux operating systems
•    Ability to troubleshoot issues involving hardware, BIOS, firmware, drivers, operating systems, thermal performance, power, and system compatibility.
•    Experience reading system block diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, specifications, and validation reports.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, project tracking, and technical documentation skills.
•    Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
•    Ability to work effectively with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
•    Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with desktop, workstation, AI PC, edge AI, or professional GPU systems.
•    Experience supporting Intel Core, Intel Xeon, AMD Ryzen, AMD EPYC, NVIDIA GeForce, or NVIDIA RTX PRO platforms.
•    Experience with AI workloads, local AI inference, generative AI, RAG, computer vision, or AI development tools.
•    Familiarity with system benchmarking and diagnostic tools such as SPEC, Cinebench, PCMark, 3DMark, MLPerf, MemTest, BurnInTest, stress-testing tools, and thermal monitoring tools.
•    Experience with NPI, EVT/DVT/PVT, pilot production, mass production, and sustaining engineering processes.
•    Familiarity with PLM, ERP, issue-tracking, or project-management systems.
•    Experience working with ODM, OEM, system integrators, component suppliers, or semiconductor partners.
•    Knowledge of regulatory, safety, environmental, and quality requirements, including CE, FCC, UL, RoHS, and Energy Star.
•    Experience supporting enterprise customers, channel partners, FAE teams, or technical sales organizations.
