As a Data Center Cabling Specialist, you will be at the forefront of our ambitious mission to deliver cutting-edge infrastructure solutions to our clients. Your expertise will directly impact the success of complex data center projects by overseeing the installation of critical network systems. You’ll ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, all while building a cohesive and high-performing team. In this role, you will act as the onsite coordinator and crew supervisor  for troubleshooting innovative cabling installation projects, and contributing to the continued success of Supermicro’s industry-leading solutions.

What You’ll Do

 

As a Data Center Cabling Specialist, you’ll:

  • Lead Project Teams: Oversee and guide teams of cabling technicians and installers, providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. Typically in capacity of site lead for small to large projects. Assume responsibility for effective performance and provide necessary training, adherence to Company & customer safety and quality guidelines. Hold weekly meetings; initiate peformance related communications & escalate to Project Manager if necessary.
  • Coordinate & Supervise Installations: Plan, coordinate, and execute cabling project, including installation, termination, and testing of network and communication cables in accordance with industry standards. Conduct site surveys and assess cabling requirements to determine appropriate materials, equipment, and resources needed for each project.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop cabling plans and strategies that meet the organization’s infrastructure needs. Coordinates with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion and compliance with project budget.
  • Ensure Safety & Quality: Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety guidelines during cabling installations and maintenance activities.
  • Problem-Solve & Troubleshoot: Troubleshoot and diagnose complex cabling issues, utilizing specialized tools and equipment to identify faults and implement effective solutions. Performance cable termination, splicing, and testing, including fiber optics, copper, and coaxial cables, to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Maintain Project Documentation: Keep accurate records of installations, test results, and project progress reports. Keep up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cabliing and network infrastructure.
  • Manage Resources: Monnitor and manage inventory of cabling materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for ongoing projects and identifying needs for replishment.
  • Act as the On-Site Contact: Serve as the main point of contact for customers on-site, providing updates and addressing concerns promptly.

What you'll bring

 

You bring expertise, leadership, and a passion for innovation. You are an experienced professional with:

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with advanced certifications in cabling systems (BICSI Technician, etc.) being highly desirable.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience as a Lead Cabling Technician or in a similar role, managing teams and guiding them to success.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of cabling standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801) and extensive experience with fiber optics, copper, and coaxial cable systems.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: A knack for diagnosing complex issues and implementing effective, innovative solutions.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Safety Awareness: A solid understanding of safety protocols, with a commitment to ensuring safe working environments for all involved.
  • Experience: 6+ years in network cabling, with hands-on experience with tools like fusion splicers, cable testers, and termination kits.

Physical Requirements:

  • Maneuvering on uneven ground and climb ladders
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs
  • Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time while using tools and perform repetitive tasks that entail frequent bending and stooping
  • Must be able to travel up to 50-80% of the time

Salary Range

$72,000 - $83,000 

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
