Job Summary:

Supermicro system department is looking for a highly technical Director, Solution Engineering to manage the end-to-end solution coordination and promotion.  In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional engineering team to provide technical direction and guidance to ensure the market competitiveness of in-house solution design.  In the meantime, you will partner with customer engagement team to understand clients’ need on ODM requirements, and lead internal team in both customization and/or design processes. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead an engineering team to design and develop data center solutions based on customer applications such as AI, HPC, Cloud and Scale-out storage, etc.
  • Work with solution PMs and play a key role in implementation of data center solutions.
  • Support pre-sales effort by creating solid solution design proposals and help answer customer questions.
  • Manage the technical aspects of the solution design, validation, integration, and deployment to meet customer requirements. Detailed job duties include reviewing design. BOMs/Layouts/diagrams, reviewing lab test reports, and providing instructions to deployment teams.
  • Work with testing, debugging, QA/QC teams to achieve consistent build quality and successful deployments.
  • Play a key role in technical review of pre-sales and post-sales engineering activities, responsible for overall build quality and technical soundness of the data center projects.
  • Responsible for recruiting talented solution engineers and architects and expand the teams capability to meet business growth targets.
  • Responsible for research and training of latest IT and data center technologies to enhance teams overall technical skill and expertise.
  • Responsible for developing team plans and strategies to meet competitions.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE/CS, MSEE/CS with 10+ years relevant experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Deep knowledge in data center infrastructures such as Cloud, HPC, AI/ML infrastructures.
  • Deep knowledge in data center networking, data center power and cooling technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of server technologies, capable of working with CSPs and SMC partners to define turn-key solutions and data center infrastructures.
  • Solid experience in large scale data center projects from design to deployment.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills and the capability of working in cross-functional organizations.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Strong ability to lead engineering teams and grow team’s capabilities.

Please note that this position requires regular in-office attendance. The successful candidate is expected to be present in the office during standard working hours as determined by the company. In-office collaboration and participation in team meetings, training sessions, and other on-site activities are essential aspects of this role. Candidates should consider the commuting distance and be prepared to fulfill their responsibilities in the designated office location.

Salary Range

$190,000 - $238,000 

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs
