Job Summary:
As a Revenue Manager, you will serve as the resident expert on all aspects of revenue accounting policy under ASC 606. You will partner closely with Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, and Product teams to review complex, multi-element commercial contracts before they are signed, ensuring optimal revenue treatment. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that balances rigorous technical accounting compliance with the fast-paced commercial demands of the AI and hardware industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Revenue Accounting & Policy: Own the interpretation and application of ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) for complex transactions, including multi-element arrangements (hardware, software, onsite support services, maintenance, deployment services and DCBBS).
- Deal Desk & Contract Review: Act as a critical advisor to the Sales and Legal teams during pre-negotiation phases. Review draft contracts and non-standard terms to identify revenue recognition implications and provide structuring alternatives.
- Revenue checklist and deal evaluation, accounting memos: Prepare the revenue desk revenue recognition checklist for comprehensive deal evaluation, present results with Revenue Management. Write clear, concise, and audit-ready technical revenue accounting position papers for significant, non-standard, or high-dollar transactions.
- Audit Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors regarding revenue recognition technical matters, effectively defending the company’s accounting positions.Process & Controls: Maintain certain key controls in the revenue recognition testing and review. Continue measures to improve Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and SOX documentation related to revenue accounting.
- Collaboration with other Revenue members to stay abreast of the following various areas, including and not limited to:
- SSP Analysis: understand the periodic Standalone Selling Price (SSP) evaluations and allocations for multi-element bundles, identify significant deal level ensurance and compliant.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): the process where Product Management review upcoming AI and server product roadmaps, material part list maintenance establishing revenue recognition frameworks before products launch.
Qualifications:
Required Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is highly preferred (or equivalent active license).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to ASC 606 technical revenue recognition.
- A mix of Big 4 public accounting and technology industry experience (specifically hardware, software, or cloud/SaaS) is strongly preferred.
Technical & Specialized Knowledge:
- Deep, authoritative knowledge of ASC 606, particularly around multi-element arrangements, principal vs. agent considerations, and variable consideration.
- Familiarity with accounting for hardware manufacturing, inventory title transfer (Incoterms), and software/SaaS hybrids.
- Experience with enterprise ERP systems (SAP) and dedicated revenue automation software (Zuora RevPro).
Soft Skills:
- The "Translator" Ability: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders (like Sales and Engineering).
- Thrived in stress and multiple priorities: Strong problem-solving skills and a high comfort level with ambiguity in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment.
Salary Range
$125,000 - $142,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
