Job Summary:

Super Micro Computer, Inc. is currently seeking a Sr. Director, Financial Planning & Analysis. The ideal candidate will bring state-of-the-art thinking to the financial planning function relative to performance planning, performance benchmarking and value creation. This person will lead the rolling forecast and annual planning processes as well as the development of operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Will advise the management team in all financial aspects and provide analysis to improve the company’s financial performance. The ideal candidate will also support the executive team including preparing board and financial presentations, industry/peer group comparisons, new business initiatives and opportunities assessment. This individual is also responsible to establish and develop a superior FP&A organization

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

  • Develop the company’s business planning platform and coordinate development of the annual operating plan and rolling financial forecasts
  • Develop insightful information to create actionable improvement objectives
  • Deliver executive level presentations, synthesizing and articulating key findings as appropriate for executive and operations management audiences
  • Support operating management to provide informed assumptions in a timely manner to meet critical reporting deadlines;
  • Generate departmental budgets and targets and conduct sensitivity and risk analysis;
  • Provide leadership in the creation, implementation and communication of key financial and operating data through the business planning platform to the finance team and management to ensure easy access to the most relevant information;
  • Develop financial reporting for by business unit and functional management;
  • Drive the annual planning process to ensure it aligns with business strategy and priorities. 

Ad hoc analytical and decision-making support:

  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives;
  • Analyze financial/operational information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes;
  • Prepare presentations to executive team and board of directors;
  • Track potential risks, constraints or impediments to growth;
  • Develop financial decision-making analyses/tools to support strategic/tactical initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent required
  • MBA, equivalent graduate degree, or advanced financial certification highly preferred
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, demonstrated proficiency with concepts, practices, and procedures of FP&A
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Technology industry experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, enterprise financial systems and comfort with information technology
  • Excellent financial modeling experience required, with solid sensitivity and risk-modeling skills
  • 6 or more years supervisory experience
  • Articulate professional, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of presenting complex financial information and concepts in an easy-to-understand format
  • Ability to design and develop practical models for applicable areas of responsibility
  • Business acumen to craft analyses which realistically model the business dynamics and develop insights upon which to make impactful recommendations
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and interpret financial information, articulate problems, propose and consider alternative solutions, and provide factual and persuasive support for decisions and recommendations
  • Comfortable questioning prior decisions, assumptions and methodologies if the expected results do not materialize as previously projected
  • Continuous improvement mentality, with a capacity and energy to challenge the status quo and drive change throughout the organization
  • Champion for process improvement and ability to evaluate processes, seek out and implement internal or external best practices
  • Highest level of integrity and honesty; Appreciation and ability to professionally assume responsibility for highly-sensitive and confidential information
