Job Summary:

As a member of Supermicro worldwide Finance and Accounting team, the Senior Director of Revenue Accounting will be responsible for Supermicro worldwide revenue group. This leader will be accountable for driving integration alignment between all revenue-related areas within the organization, including enhancing and monitoring operational and accounting based controls, policies and processes; develop, analyze and report business intelligence analytics, interpret and assess revenue accounting treatment for new business models and large complex arrangements; manage to explain matters to multiple element arrangement sales transactions; and assist in managing the system implementation and adoption of ACS606.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the revenue cycle required to drive accurate ASC 605 and ASC 606 revenue recognition and dual reporting requirements
  • Exercise judgment within defined policies and authoritative literature to determine appropriate action related to revenue-related transactions and prepare related technical memos
  • Manage the worldwide revenue team in the review of contracts and sales orders to assess proper revenue recognition treatment
  • Manage the monthly close process related to revenue including the timely completion of close items and analytical review
  • Implement timely reporting and process improvements based upon industry trends, authoritative literature and business objectives
  • Monitor relevant US GAAP and SEC developments to ensure revenue recognition policies and procedures are in compliance
  • Work closely with other functional groups to drive improvement in the revenue recognition and order to cash cycle
  • Lead technical accounting discussions relating to revenue recognition and be the subject matter expert to drive matters to conclusion.
  • Develop trainings on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices to present to Sales and other departments within the organization
  • Participate in quarterly revenue forecast procedures
  • Manage all revenue recognition matters with the external audit firm and internal audit for quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting in the Quote to Cash business cycle.


  • Bachelor’s degree from four year university
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Accounting / Finance, including experience with hardware, software and service arrangements. Big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred
  • US CPA is a must.  Active CPA designation preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the application of ASC605, ASC985 and ASC606 and working knowledge of all other current authoritative literature related to revenue recognition is required
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in interacting with all levels of management
  • Excellent computer skills with MS Office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP and RevPro is a plus
