Job Summary:

The successful candidate will operate as a senior thermal engineer in SMC LAB department team. Responsible for system cooling design, validations, thermal issues analysis for server / storage / blade and workstation. As your experienced thermal technical background to lead the system cooling solutions and process improvement with cross function team. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer and the applicant must process excellent communication skills to identify thermal management solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

  • Responsible for thermal design in mainstream server / storage / blade / AI GPU system and full product life cycle.
  • Cross function team work with project manager to provide cooling solutions and issues debugging as well as deal with customer’s response immediately.
  • Collaborate with motherboard, chassis, power supply, and system teams to optimize system layout and component placement
  • Thermal measurement experience with thermal test vehicles, flow chamber test, design testing and automatic data acquisition with regards to industry standards
  • Familiar and experience with advanced cooling solution in liquid cooling / loop heat pipe / thermo-syphon / immersion cooling technologies and stat of the art thermal solution research.
  • Understanding 6 sigma, GR&R, FAI and stack up for product quality control process and leads production parts approval process for qualification of key components.
  • Provide thermal/cooling technical supports and deployment from server level to data center level
  • Investigate and identify new techniques to advance cooling schemes and thermal managements


  • BS or MS in ME/Thermal/Aerospace/EE or equivalent training with minimum 8+ years experiences in server/storage/blade/Industry system thermal design and solution validation preferred. 
  • Require server knowledge/experience of system design process and thermal design/management, heat transfer material, cooling devices.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, solid communication skills in both verbal and written.
  • Require to review system thermal design, analysis, debugging, validation, documentation and also communication.
  • Knowledge of mechanical/thermals (cooling devices, air flow, temp, power, cooling, mechanical design).  With electrical/power (power distribution, AC power types, power calculations, DC power, regulatory/safety) is preferred.
  • Must to have good working spirit and attitude with cross functional design team.
  • Good experience for ODM/OEM design, quality control, DFx/DFM design review, supplier capability evaluation and improvement.
  • Experience running stress programs and scripts under Windows and Linux environments
  • Hands-on computer system level thermal testing or validation experience including thermocouple installations, automated data acquisitions, and related lab equipment operations
