Job Summary:
High-performance product team in Supermicro is seeking talented System Engineer who can lead the technical collateral development of in-house embedded system products. This individual will have the opportunity to define and implement latest data center and server technologies, and to create proof of concepts and technical feature paper presentations to differentiate Supermicro product through online and at various industry events. This individual will also be the go-to person for product managers and system engineers to be the subject of matter expert in application benchmarks specifically in network, database, and virtualization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are integral to the System Engineer role (other duties may also be assigned):
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of various components, including CPU architecture, DRAM configurations, flash-based storage technologies, and motherboard design, to conceptualize, develop, and integrate robust embedded system products and solutions.
- Lead benchmark testing for Supermicro's latest embedded products, leveraging state-of-the-art data center technologies to build impactful proof of concepts that validate product performance and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and system engineers to create technical marketing presentations, white papers, and case studies aimed at online publications, as well as promotional activities for industry expos and conferences.
- Stay ahead of industry trends by proactively researching emerging technologies and proposing innovative Proof of Concepts that align with business objectives and customer needs.
- Actively partner with sales teams, field application engineers (FAEs), and customers to deliver networking solutions and impart technical knowledge that enhances product value and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of system engineering experience specializing in embedded hardware products.
- Profound understanding of server architecture, including proficiency in protocols such as PCIe, SATA, and SAS, as well as a solid grasp of operating system concepts; familiarity with distributed computing is highly advantageous.
- Practical experience in configuring enterprise-level operating systems, including Windows Server, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Linux Shell, C/C++, JavaScript) is strongly preferred, along with a passion for automation and system optimization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of server hardware architectures, including PCI Express interfaces and Out-Of-Band (OOB) management.
- Proven experience in technical writing, with excellent communication skills that enable effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
Salary Range
$84,000 - $134,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
